How audits and scores work

When EchoPilot checks your business, what Run audit now does, how the score works, and what each result means.

Updated

This page explains when EchoPilot checks your business, what Run audit now does, and how to read your score.

Scheduled audits

Once a month, EchoPilot checks your business online and gives you a score.

Every paid plan includes one scheduled audit each month. It runs on the day your plan renews.

When it is done, EchoPilot writes your 90-day plan. We call it a memo. It lists what to fix first. We email you when it is ready.

Your dashboard shows the date of your next audit, in your business's time zone.

Run audit now

Fixed something? Press Run audit now to get a new score straight away.

Each plan includes some extra audits each month:

  • Audit: 1 extra audit a month.
  • Growth: 2 extra audits a month.
  • Managed: 30 extra audits a month.

You can run one every 24 hours. Extra audits you don't use don't carry over to the next month.

A new audit looks at your website, your listings and your profiles again. Then you get a new score.

It doesn't write a memo by itself. When it is done, press Generate memo on your dashboard. That doesn't use up an extra audit.

The score

Your score is out of 100. It only counts the checks we could actually run, so a missing check never lowers it.

Checks that matter more count for more.

Some basic checks hold the score back. If your website doesn't load, or people have no way to reach you, the score stops at 40 until you fix it.

The label next to your score shows its band:

  • Excellent: 90 to 100
  • Good: 75 to 89
  • Needs work: 40 to 74
  • Poor: 0 to 39

The arrow shows how your score changed since your last finished audit. Your first audit says First audit.

Sometimes we can run more or fewer checks than last time. Then a note under your score says so. Part of the change comes from what we could check, not from your business.

The score shows how your business looks in these checks. It doesn't measure your place on Google, your visits or your sales.

Pass, partial, fail, not assessable

  • Pass: this is in good shape.
  • Partial: it's there but not complete. It counts for half.
  • Fail: it's missing or broken, so fix these first.
  • Can't be checked: we couldn't look at this one, or it doesn't apply to you. For example, Google hasn't opened Business Profile data to us yet, or you don't run ads.

A check we couldn't run is left out of your score. It never counts against you.

The dashboard calls these “not assessable” (it means we couldn't check them). The line under your score counts the checks we could run.

Why some checks can't be run

Rule set version

Now and then we add new checks. Each version of the list has a number, like v0.1 or v0.2. Audits today use v0.2, with 92 checks.

Each score uses the checks that existed on its day, so an older score isn't redone.

When we add checks, your score can move even if nothing changed on your side. The dashboard tells you when that happens.

Your PDF reports show which version each audit used.
