Import your review history

How to bring your reviews into EchoPilot, set up the browser extension, and post your replies on Google.

Updated

Your reviews matter to your audit. Some checks look at them, like how often you reply and how fast you answer bad reviews. Each review you bring in also gets a reply written for you to approve.

How it works

  1. Bring your Google reviews into EchoPilot.
  2. EchoPilot writes a reply to each one. Change it if you like, then approve it.
  3. Post it on Google with one click from the browser extension.

Nothing is posted without your click.

Bring your reviews in

The easy way: open your Google listing with the EchoPilot browser extension and click Scan & Import Reviews.

  1. Install the extension and connect it. See Set up the extension.
  2. Open your business's own listing on Google Maps. A search page won't work, even if it shows reviews.
  3. Check it's the right listing. Compare the name, the address and the number of reviews.
  4. Scroll until the reviews you want are on the page.
  5. Click the EchoPilot button, then Scan & Import Reviews.
  6. Check them under Reviews. Scanning again is safe, because we skip reviews you already have.

Have reviews in a spreadsheet or from another site? Upload a file. The extension only reads Google, so use a file for Facebook, Trustpilot and others.

Connecting your Google Business Profile will import reviews automatically. Google hasn't opened that access to EchoPilot yet. Until it does, use the extension or a file.

Set up the extension

Video plays muted — use the controls to unmute.

Watch it first (2 min). The video shows the download, the install and how to connect your key, start to finish. The written steps on the download page match it.

  1. Install the extension. Add it to Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera or Vivaldi. An EchoPilot button appears near the top right of your browser. Can't see it? Click the puzzle-piece icon and pin it.

Download the zip file from Integrations, then Browser extension, then Download. Unzip it into a folder you'll keep, because your browser loads the extension from there. Then turn on Developer mode (a switch that lets your browser add an extension from a folder), click Load unpacked and pick the folder. Where to find the switch:

  • Chrome: go to chrome://extensions. The switch is at the top right.
  • Brave: go to brave://extensions. The switch is at the top right.
  • Edge: go to edge://extensions. The switch is in the left menu.
  • Opera: go to opera://extensions. The switch is at the top right.
  • Vivaldi: go to vivaldi://extensions. The switch is at the top right.

When your browser starts, it may warn you about extensions added this way. That's normal. Close the warning and the extension keeps working. Firefox and Safari aren't supported.

  1. Create a device key. In EchoPilot, go to Integrations, then Browser extension. Give the key a name you'll know, like "My laptop", and create it. A code starting with ep_ext_ appears. Copy it now, because we show it only once. Lost it? Just make a new one.
  2. Paste the key into the extension. Click the EchoPilot button, then Settings. Paste the key and click Save. A green dot and the word Connected appear at the top.

Prefer not to install anything? Upload a file instead.

Reply and post

  1. Approve in EchoPilot. In Reviews or Posts, change the text if you like, then click Approve. Nothing goes anywhere until you do.
  2. Open your listing as the owner. Sign in to Google with the account that manages your Business Profile. Then open your listing.
  3. Fill and post. Click the EchoPilot button and open the Queue tab. Click Fill reply, or Fill update. The text appears in Google's box. Read it, then click Post yourself. EchoPilot marks it as posted.

Posts work the same way: click Fill update instead. EchoPilot never posts anything without your click.

The three status lights

  • Connected: your EchoPilot account is linked. If it's red, do step 3 again.
  • Review page: you're on a Google listing the extension knows. A normal search page won't work, even if it shows reviews. Open your business's own listing.
  • Owner view: you're signed in as the listing's manager, and Google shows its reply buttons. You only need this one to post.

Advanced

Most people never need this part. Open a topic when you need it.

Upload a file

Put your reviews in a spreadsheet and save it as CSV (a plain file almost every spreadsheet app can save). It can be up to 5 MB. Upload it under Reviews, then Import from file.

The first row names the columns, like this:

reviewer_name,rating,review_text,review_date,platform,review_url,owner_reply
"Jane D.",5,"Great service, fast and friendly.",2026-05-14,GOOGLE,https://maps.google.com/...,"Thanks Jane!"

Ratings are whole numbers from 1 to 5. Write dates like 2026-05-14. Write the site name in capitals, like GOOGLE. Leave a box empty if you don't know it. Your columns can have other names, because you match them before the import.

Google Takeout (last resort)
  1. Go to takeout.google.com, signed in as the listing's owner.
  2. Click Deselect all, tick only Google Business Profile, and export.
  3. Upload the file you get under Reviews, then Import from file. EchoPilot reads it as it is.

Takeout files can be incomplete or slow to arrive. Use the extension when you can.

Check the import
  • The number you brought in is close to the number Google shows.
  • Five reviews picked at random have the right stars and dates.
  • The reviews went to the right business.
  • You noted your oldest and newest review dates as a starting point.
Privacy and safety

Only import reviews that are public or about your own business. The extension only reads what's already on your screen. It never signs in for you or gets around Google's checks.

Your login stays safe. The extension never sees your Google password. It only reads the reviews already on your screen and sends them to your own EchoPilot account. Scanning again later adds new reviews and skips ones you already have. It never posts anything without your click.
