What EchoPilot replaces, and what it does not

What an SEO consultant typically charges a small business, which parts of that work EchoPilot does each month, and what only a person can do.

Updated

On Growth and Managed, the dashboard's "Done for you this month" strip says that a consultant typically bills $1,500–3,500 a month for this scope. This page shows where that range comes from, what EchoPilot does in that scope, and what it leaves to you or to a person you hire.

What does a consultant charge?

These are the ranges two public pricing guides publish (both read on 29 October 2026). They are what consultants and agencies say they charge, not a quote for your business. Prices vary with your market, the scope and the person.

  • WebFX, SEO pricing guide: $1,500 to $3,500 a month for a small business; monthly retainers of $1,000 to $5,000; $75 to $200 an hour.
  • HireInSouth, Freelance SEO Rates Guide (2026): monthly retainers of $1,500 to $7,500+ for a US freelancer, and $500 to $5,000+ across regions; a one-time SEO audit for $500 to $5,000+; $75 to $125 an hour for a mid-level US specialist.

The strip quotes WebFX's small-business range, the lower of the two US ranges.

What does EchoPilot do in that scope?

  • The monthly audit: 92 checks of your website, Google listing, reviews, social profiles and AI visibility, each with the evidence it read and the fix.
  • The 90-day memo: the fixes in order, who does each one, and a checklist you tick off. The next audit re-checks what you mark done.
  • Drafts (Growth and Managed): 12 social drafts a month on Growth, 24 on Managed, for you to approve, edit or skip.
  • Google Business work (Managed): review reply drafts and 4 listing updates a month, filled into Google by the browser extension after you approve them.
  • Competitor watch (Managed): up to 5 competitors checked every week, with a short brief when something changes.

Each of these is counted on the strip, and each count links to its list.

What does a consultant do that EchoPilot does not?

  • Judgment. A consultant weighs your business, your market and your budget, and can tell you to ignore a check that does not matter for you. EchoPilot ranks fixes by the same published rules for everyone.
  • Implementation. A consultant or their developer changes your website and your listing. EchoPilot explains each fix and drafts text; you or your web person make the change, and nothing is posted without your approval.
  • A person to call. A consultant joins calls and answers questions about your situation. EchoPilot's support is by email at [email protected].

If you want those, EchoPilot can sit beside a consultant: the memo's "Send to my developer" button sends them the fixes in order, and the next audit shows what changed.

Does EchoPilot promise results?

No. EchoPilot audits, explains and drafts. It does not promise rankings, traffic, leads or revenue, and neither does the price comparison above: it compares the scope of the work, not its outcome.
